DANIEL DARRIS-O'CONNOR | ON THE ISSUES
A strong community depends on strong infrastructure, and right now Massachusetts is falling short. From our roads and bridges to our water systems and commuter rail, residents are too often being asked to make do while the problems continue to grow.
Local roads, bridges, and water infrastructure need real investment. I will fight to increase local aid so that Billerica and communities like ours have the resources to repair roads, maintain critical infrastructure, and upgrade the aging water and sewer systems residents rely on every day. These may not be glamorous investments, but they are essential to public safety, quality of life, and long-term growth.
The commuter rail is also one of the most important connections Billerica residents have to Boston, and it is not living up to its potential. North Billerica station has sat in disrepair for too long, and both North Billerica and Wilmington stations need meaningful investment to better serve the residents who rely on them every day.
That includes expanding parking, improving station facilities, and increasing service frequency so the commuter rail becomes a genuinely reliable and attractive option for residents. Whether commuting into Boston for work or heading into the city for an event, public transit should be convenient, dependable, and worth choosing. Investing in transit reduces traffic, eases congestion, and improves quality of life across the region.
Billerica deserves a representative who will fight for every dollar needed to keep our community moving, and that is exactly what I intend to do.
