Daniel Darris-O'Connor

Meet the Candidate

Daniel Darris-O'Connor is running for State Representative because Billerica deserves a rep who shows up and gets things done.

Right now, families in Billerica are feeling it. Costs are sky high, wages aren't keeping pace, and too many residents feel like the people who are supposed to be fighting for them simply aren't in the room. Billerica deserves better, and we can get there, but only with a State Representative who shows up, builds strong relationships, and delivers results for residents, regardless of party.

Daniel has spent years serving Billerica in ways big and small. He served as student representative to the Billerica School Committee, worked with numerous local nonprofits, helped promote financial literacy education across Massachusetts, and backed a same-day voter registration ballot initiative that will appear before voters.

Daniel brought that same hands-on commitment to the Select Board, where he's been a steady, practical voice for fiscal responsibility and accountability. When he joined the board, our town government was in disarray. Key town employees were leaving, and politics had crowded out the priorities that matter to residents' daily lives. Daniel helped turn that around, and Billerica is stronger for it.

Now he's ready to take that same commitment to Boston: fighting for working families and seniors, strengthening our local economy, and tackling the rising cost of living with practical solutions, not partisan noise.

A record of showing up and getting results

Turning around town government.
When Daniel was elected to the Select Board, the board was in rough shape. Members were putting politics ahead of people, and key town employees were leaving. Daniel helped recruit a new Town Manager, Assistant Town Manager, Town Legal Counsel, and other essential personnel to bring long-term stability back to town government.

Investing in core infrastructure and services.
Daniel cast the tie-breaking vote on historic water system infrastructure investments, ensuring clean, reliable water for every resident. He supported a budget that fully funds the DPW, Police, and Fire Departments, so first responders and town employees have the resources they need to serve our community.

Standing up for schools.
As student representative to the School Committee, Daniel opposed educator layoffs that would have hurt Billerica students. On the Select Board, he's championed our schools, including supporting an MSBA Statement of Interest to move forward with long overdue middle school improvements.

Growing the local economy.
Daniel brought forward a comprehensive plan to expand Billerica's commercial tax base, easing the burden on homeowners instead of shifting it onto them.

Expanding access to democracy.
Daniel backed a same-day voter registration ballot initiative, giving more Billerica residents a fair shot at making their voice heard.

Showing up beyond the podium.
Daniel has volunteered with numerous local nonprofits, donating time and helping raise funds to keep their work going, and has worked to promote financial literacy education across Massachusetts..
